This beautiful car was parked in downtown one night in July, 2009. I think it’s a 1941, but I’m not sure. There was nobody around to ask. Well … there was one old guy who offered to sell it to me for $50, but as he wasn’t the owner, I passed.
Packard was once considered the premier American luxury car, but during the Great Depression, the company was forced to offer some mid-priced cars to compete with cheaper brands. The One Twenty was the first of these scaled-down models, believe it or not. Packard sold them from 1935 to 1941 (except for 1938). Depending on the body style, the price was between $1,099 and $1,856. This one is a convertible coupe.
