Moonrise September 16, 2008

Main Street Prairie - September 16, 2008

I took this shot way back in September of last year. I didn’t post it before now because it is so obviously beyond the abilities of my camera. (At the time, I actually briefly considered running across to the other side of the field to get closer to the moon.) I also wasn’t prepared to take it — I didn’t have a tripod with me and night photography without a tripod is impossible. But I also didn’t get rid of it because I can see the photo I wanted it to be …

I’m posting it now because I’ve decided to use it as a benchmark. This is where my serious attempts at photographing moonrises began. I tried again, with a tripod, earlier this week. I’ll post a few of those photos over the next few days.
