White Sox vs. Rangers — June 4, 1988

My wife and I went to the game with friends. As we approached the ticket window, some lady handed us half-price coupons. That works! Our seats were down the left-field line in the upper deck. And fine seats they were too — about 10 inches wide and so close to the row in front that my knees didn’t fit.

The game was sloppy, and much of it was dull, but the last inning was fantastic. When the Sox came up to bat, they were losing 8-5. Ivan Calderon led off with a home run. Then, with one out, Gary Redus hit a walk-off grand slam to win it for the Sox 10-8. There was even a fireworks show after the game!
